Great Dog park.

Has anyone gone here with your dog?

I love the place but I find it annoying when people go there with no dog and try to have a picnic. I mean, my dog is a good dog but.. if you bring food into his play area you will get his footprints on your fancy pants..

Used to go there all the time with my dogs. And I know exactly what you mean by non-dog owners showing up for a quiet picnic/walk.

It's a freaking dog park. Don't give me the "oh my god what an ugly mutt" look when my dog comes running up to you for a friendly hello. If you don't like dogs, don't go to this park. It's one of the few in the HRM that dogs can be off-leash and actually enjoy themselves.

I have had this experience too - more than one of my dogs is a complete food hound - and they'll leave whatever they're doing when they smell the least bit of food - Seaview is sort of broken up - invisibly into 2 parts though - it's like every other off-leash part in the HRM and is a multi-use park - so only one section of Seaview is actually designated as an off leash park - and the picnic tables for the non-dog owners are at the end where dogs are actually not supposed to be off leash.

I'd say if a family had the cahones to set up a family picnic on one of the picnic tables on the top of the hill right in the middle of the off leash area - then they should expect to share at least half of what they bring with the dogs! But I may be a bit biased. At least the city has removed the playground near the parking lot - I always thought that was really gross - how many thousands of dogs pee first off on that playground equipment as soon as they arrive at the park - on leash or off. Yuck.
